Teacher Spotlight - Kenna Darst, Kindergarten | Schedule a Tour!

Hello! My name is Kenna Darst, and I am so excited to be part of the Kindergarten team here at Playa Del Rey Elementary. This is my first year of teaching, and I can truly say that every day in Kindergarten is a brand-new adventure!

I love that each day brings something different, whether we are diving into a new story or exploring a brand-new concept. My goal is to use hands-on learning experiences to help my students build a genuine, lifelong love for school.

One of my favorite moments of the school year so far was our Halloween Parade. It was so exciting to see our Kindergarteners walk through the halls while the rest of the school, our families, and the staff cheered them on! It was a wonderful way to show our students how much the entire Playa Del Rey community supports them.

Quick Tip:

To help your child feel like a "reading rockstar," I recommend practicing letter sounds in everyday life. Point out letters on cereal boxes, street signs, or restaurant menus! It’s a fun, low-pressure way to build their confidence outside the classroom.

When I’m not at school planning our next classroom adventure, I love spending time with my Golden Retriever, Charlie. You might even hear a few stories about his antics in our classroom!
